IPL Auction 2009 – Kevin Pieterson & Andrew Flintoff gets record breaking highest bid of $ 1.55 Million each
Englands Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff won record contracts of $1.55 million each in the 2nd round of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 auction held in Goa yesterday. Pietersen was picked up by Bangalore Royal Challengers and Flintoff by Chennai Super Kings, In the last years Chennai had bid the highest, $1.5 million, for Indian Captain M S Dhoni.
“I was prepared to pay up to $2 million for Kevin Pietersen,” Vijay Mallya, owner of the Bangalore team, said in Goa today. “It was a conscious decision and we wanted him.” Vijay allya Owner Bangalore Royals

Unlike last edition this 2nd edition of the league increases the number of overseas players to 10 from 8 in each squad. The teams could spend as much as $2 million and choose from among the 43 available players.
