Indian Premier League (IPL) 2009 Revised Schedule
The 2nd season of the extravagant and lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) was officially launched by the IPL commissioner Lalit Modi in Mumbai on Tuesday. The new logo was also unveiled.
IPL 2009 will now kick off on April 10th 2009 with both the opening and closing ceremonies to be held in D.Y Patil Stadium, Mumbai. The venues of the tourney are Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Vizag.
This time a new addition to the entertainment factor of the IPL is the proposal to screen the matches in multiplexes all across the country.
IPL Incharge of Security:
Modi in a press conference in Mumbai said all the Players’ security during the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be centrally monitored by the league’s governing council and will be handled in consultation with the reputed South African security agency ‘Nicolas Steyn.’
“Security (budget) will be 10 times more than last year,” Modi said without divulging the exact figure.
