China Takes Aim at Flower Domination
The number one flower producer in the world is the Netherlands. China wants that spot.
The government of China is pouring money into developing:
1. highways
2. bridges
3. international airports
to and from Kunming, with its perfect year round weather. Beijing believes Kunming can produce enough flowers to be the top flower power in Asia within 10-15 years and the world not long after that.
Markets include:
1. LA – roses packed with bottles of wine.
2. Netherlands – the land of tulips
3. Singapore…
4. Moscow…
I remember spending time in the northeast of China in the dead of winter – hanging out at the Harbin Ice Festival and doing my utmost to get indoors anywhere to warm up.
And then when I did get indoors to the market – sure enough, there were fresh flowers.
If any country can be top hippy, China can.
What do you think?
