More Evidence that Japan Does Not Get Christmas

The Japanese favorite meal on Christmas Day - Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Christmas Trees in October.
Ask a Japanese what their religion is at Christmas time - Christian = they can play at being a Christian during this time of the year. Interesting statistic - there are 20 million Christians in Japan, 80 million Buddhists and 100 million […]

Japanese Scientist Use Cell from Dead Body to Clone Embryo of Endangered Rabbit

If a Team of Japanese Scientists can bring ‘Jurassic Park’ one big step closer to reality then it’s no surprise perhaps that another group of Japanese scientists have cloned the embryo of an endangered rabbit.
Michael Crichton wants to know, where were these guys years ago, say during the Jurassic period. We could have had some […]

The Highest Earning Cat in Asia

Tama is likely the highest earning cat, animal-type, in Asia.
Tama is a “stationmaster” at Kishi Station in Wakayama Prefecture Japan.
It is estimated that the cat’s economic impact on the area is about Y1.1B ($10 million).
1. Passengers take rides to see the cat.
2. Photo collections of the cat are sold.
3. Related merchandise featuring the pussy are […]

Japan’s Poop Museum

Even after having spent nearly 20 years in Japan, I never got to visit this museum.
Boy, did I miss out. Not!
I love Japan. I love America, too. But, sometimes I can't help but wonder, "What in the world are these people thinking?"
In a world where anything is possible, some people will do anything.
Just as […]

Done laughing now?
Anyway, Lorelai takes Rory on a mock Asian tour because Rory had her plans cancelled when Logan went to London and…

Japan’s Annual Penis Festival (SFW) - Kanamara Matsuri

And I thought that Poop Museum might be the last thing I have never seen in Japan.
How about a penis festival that's safe for work?
Absolutely.
I have been to shrines dedicated to the penis in Japan. But, gosh, I seemed to have missed out on the festival dedicated to the Phallus.
If 10's of thousands of people, […]

What 6 Items Will Japan and China Talk about When PM Fukuda Visits?

I didn't think it was possible for the two countries, Japan and China, to get all their ducks in a row in time for PM Fukuda to visit China before the end of the year.
I was wrong.
Looks like PM Fukuda is going to Beiing for about 4 days, from Dec. 27th-30th.
There are 6 items they […]

Christmas in Asia - Celebrating in Japan

Christmas in Asia - Celebrating in Japan.
The secular celebration of Christmas is popular in Japan, though Christmas is not a national holiday.
The Japanese have adopted the character of Santa Claus but the image does not carry the same social importance as in western countries. In other words, Japanese parents don't lie to their kids. […]
