MI 3 – Maggie Q and Shanghai
I went to Shanghai last night. The last time I was there someone offered to find me a Shanghai girl. When I repeatedly turned him down, he followed up with "How about a Shanghai boy?" Anyway…
My wife and I went there vitually last night at the movies. For the second flick she went her way and I wandered in to MI 3. I am not a Tom Cruise fan. I am too ugly and he’s too everything else.
But, I could definitely be a 
Maggie Q fan. Besides beauty she definitely has appeal.
And that is one of the MAIN reasons she showed up in this flick.
How many tickets, I wonder, have been sold or will be sold in China, especially Hong Kong because this movie has Maggie in it and because much of the action takes place in Shanghai?
I think Hollywood stages these movies and recruits actors from China to help add to the bottom line, if for no other reason than to find an audience there. It’s good business.

and now Maggie Q. Who else is in the wings?
At least Hollywood has good taste in girls.

Who knows why the Chinese government thinks what they think?
I thought the images of Shanghai…my wife said it was actually Suzhou…were fun…and brought back memories.
I’d like to go back for a visit.

Mr. Shea is right, MI3 is not out in China yet and it’s not clear when it will be. The government thinks it portrayed China in a bad light so they are not fans. I think the government is wrong as I thought the Shanghai scenes of Pudong and the old parts of town were incredible. Ditto re Maggie Q.

I suspect you are right. I wonder though if there aren’t even better actors and actresses available in China.
In any event, Hollywood is capitalizing on the infatuation everyone has for China and that China has for everything American.

The Chinese government is still scrutinising MI3 and it will be available for public viewing by end June.
It is expected that Hollywood producers will hire more and more movie stars from the East. Bruce Lee (70s), Jacky Chan (90s),Chow Yun-Fat(90s) and Jet Li(90s)were quite successful in Hollywood. Nowadays, Michelle Yeoh, Gong Li, and Zhang Ziyi are Hollywood’s next superstars.
Adding oriental flavour to Hollywood films will be an irreversible trend because of the influence of China.
