More than Half a Million Chinese Try to Get a Job Doing Nothing
China’s Ministry of Personnel, also responsible for organizing the annual examination, said that 535,574 people will compete (sitting while they do it) for a job where they can sit for the rest of their lives.
The more than half a million people are sitting, again, something they do for rest of their lives, for the civil servant exam.
Problem is, there are only 12,724 job openings in 89 government departments and regional units.
That’s one job for every 42 applicants. They will be judged not only on their scores but
also in how well they sit/sat for the exam.
I don’t reckon civil servants in China are any more friendly or capable than they are anywhere else in the world.
I stood in line in Russia. I stood in line in Japan. I stand in line in the US. I suppose I would do the same in China.
Do you have any experience dealing with civil servants in China?
What do you think?
