Velupillai Prabhakaran, the leader of Sri Lanka’s feared Tamil Tigers LTTE , was killed on Monday while he was trying to escape from the battlezone along with two of his top aides, the SriLankan military has announced his death.
Yesterday there was an huge explosion in the ltte hidden area , and the military suspect that it was a mass suicide by the ltte cadres.
The military said it had so far found 150 bodies of LTTE cadres and they are in the process of identifying them.
Velupillai Prabhakaran born on November 26, 1954 was the founder leader of the (LTTE) Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam , a militant organization that sought to create an independent Tamil state in Sri Lanka.

A military source speaking on condition of anonymity said on Monday: "It was confirmed Prabhakaran was killed when trying to flee in an ambulance before dawn. We are waiting for the official announcement by the president.”
Prabhakaran, is reported to being in a convoy of a van and an ambulance with Pottu Amman, head of the intelligence wing of the (LTTE), and Sea Tigers chief Soosai when the military opened fire in an isolated strip of Mullaitivu district.
Military sources say Among the identified were, Charles Anthony, the eldest son of LTTE chief, B. Nadesan, LTTE’s political head, S. Pulidevan , LTTE’s head of peace secretariat, S. Ramesh, A special military leader, Kapil Amman, LTTE’s deputy intelligence leader, Sudarman , the aide to Prabhakarn’s son, Rathnam Master , a Black Tiger leader and Ilango, another senior LTTE leader.
