Scientists Lose Their Turtle Transmitter
Some scientists in Indonesia are saying they can't find the satellite transmitter that was glued to the back of a turtle and released into the South China sea.
The transmitter is beaming a signal from an Indonesian coastal town and the scientists are offering $500 to anyone who can help them find it.
Look in the soup.
The Olive Ridley Turtle is about 2'3" long and weighs about 100 pounds. The satellite-tracking device was about the size of pack of cigarettes.
Apparently the device didn't work so well, or they wouldn't have so much trouble retreiving it.
12 turtles were given the high tech transmitter and set free to see how they would adapt to their natural environment after being raised in captivity.
And, I wonder, why would we want to know that?
"Man, this turtle shell has a metallic taste to it. Ma, what do you think that thing was that grew on his shell?"
Look in the man's stomach…or maybe in the outhouse.
