One Country Wants to be Home to Global Schoolhouse
At least one country has the emphasis in the right place….education.
Singapore wants its education sector to be about 5% of its gross domestic product by 2015…up from the current 3.8%.
Singapore has 20 foreign universities and 41 preparatory and boarding schools as well as 290 private schools.
Last year, Singapore hosted 80,000 students from over 120 countries…up 11.6% from 2005.![]()
Singapore's 'global schoolhouse' aims to provide diverse and quality educational choices at all levels of education – pre-school to post-graduate.
Diversity…international…quality… If these are the goals of education, and why shouldn't they be…then Singapore is the choice.
What's more…the country will pay for the education.
Sounds right to me.
What do you think?
