Yahoo Japan has signed a deal with Google, as it would be using its search engine rather than using Microsoft’s search engine Bing.

Daniel Alegre, Vice President of Google Asia Pacific and Japan Operations, stated that Yahoo Japan would be using Google search results in displaying search results, but would not use the Google technology.

This is a strong blow on Microsoft, as it was trying to place its self in Japan, and thats not it, Microsoft was from years trying to gain the market recognition of Google and also to scale the company’s capacity.

Yahoo Japan had used the Microsoft search engine Bing to produce search results, but were not able to satisfy the company, specially with a tough market competition from Google.

Yahoo is an investor in Yahoo Japan, but it does not hold the biggest share, rather Softbank does. So as per the shareholding stats, it is not necessary that Yahoo’s opinion would be taken in all the decision of Yahoo Japan.
