Investment Market Trends: Geographic Strategies

I attended a recent Investment in China and India Summit hosted by Financial Research Associates  I will use this forum to share some of the slide/insights that were given at this summit for the benefit of those hoping/thinking/planning on investing in an Asian country – China, India or Japan.

Pacific Rim Funds

Focused on investing links or outsourcing between the U.S. and either Greater China (design, hardware and manufacturing) or India (software and services)

Many entrants focused on this market are new; very few have long-term track records or a complete footprint on the ground in relevant markets

Pan-Asian Funds

Investing across Asia through multiple offices in both Southeast and North Asia

Focused on buyouts and growth capital

Though more established, past results have been decidedly mixed

Country Funds

Usually newer emerging managers as very few groups have a long history

Includes funds focused on both local and export markets
