SBI tops list of advance taxpayers for FY’10
The country’s largest leneder State Bank of India tops the list of ten highest advance taxpayers for this fiscal with a payment of Rs 6,552 crore, an Income Tax source said on Tuesday.SBI has shelled out Rs 6,552 crore as advance tax compared to Rs 5,733 crore paid for the last fiscal year. Mukesh Ambani-run Reliance Industries tops the list in the private sector with a payment of Rs 3,075 crore against Rs 1,838 crore in the last fiscal.
RIL occupies the third spot amongst the top ten advance taxpayers, the source said.
“SBI is followed by LIC (second spot), which has made a total payment of Rs 3,253 crore for FY’10 against Rs 2,988 crore last fiscal,” the source said.
“Indian Oil Corporation is fourth in the list while Bank of Baroda (BoB) is seventh,” the source said.
Standard Chartered Bank and HDFC Bank also figure amongst the top ten at fifth and sixth spots respectively, the source said.
In Q4 FY’10, SBI paid Rs 1,857 crore, while LIC paid Rs 864 crore. Reliance Industries paid Rs 770 crore in Q4 FY’10 against Rs 365 crore in the year-ago period.
