Sania Mirza to quit tennis after marriage

Tennis player Sania Mirza on Wednesday said that she will not be playing tennis after she gets married.

Sania Mirza had got engaged to close friend Sohrab Mirza a Hyderabad businessman in July 2009.

“As of now, I don’t intend to play professionally after marriage but that is still some time away,” Sania said.

When Sania’s father Imran Mirza was asked weather this is her decision he said, “It’s her decision for now. If later she decides to play after marriage, its her choice.”

Mirza did not reveal when is going to get married,  but said she will hang the tennis racket after tying the nuptial knot.

Sania Mirza is the highest ranked female tennis player ever from India, The highest ranking for Sania was 27 in singles and 18 in doubles.

In the year 2006, sania Mirza was given the Padma Shri award honor for her achievements as a Tennis player.

Sania Miza has been the face of Indian tennis on the WTA circuit.

“I think after competing for seven years as a professional and ranked in the singles top-100 for five years, I’ve reached a stage in my career where my performance cannot be judged on the basis of few tournaments,” she said.
