Salman Rushdie’s video link allowed at Jaipur Literary Festival

The controversial author Salman Rushdie’s video link has finaly been allowed for the participation in the Jaipur Literary Festival. Rushdie will be appearing through the video link on January 24, 2012 at 3:45 pm.

According to the organizers of the event, the law will be respected and that the Rajasthan Government too has clarified that no permission is needed for the session. Sanjay Roy, the main organizer of the event said that they have been in constant touch with Rushdie and that he will be talking about his life, his work and his book ‘Midnights’s Children’.

NDTV has organised a studio in London, from where the author will be joining the audience. The session will be moderated by Barkha Dutt. Salman was supposed to attend the event personally but was then warned by the Rajasthan Police that paid assassins might be on their way to target the author.

Rushdie’s visit to the country was thus cancelled after which a video conference was arranged, which proceeded with prior permission.
