Mukesh Ambani denies bidding for Liverpool
Mukesh Ambani has denied making any bids to takeover Livepool.
The Times had reported that Mukesh Ambani, the world’s 7th richest person, was one of two bidders from Asia who were interested in a stake at Anfield.
The report said Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries and Sahara Group’s Subrata Roy had each tendered bids to pay off Liverpool‘s £237 million debts for a 51 % stake.
“There is no truth to the report. We deny it completely,” Reliance spokeswoman Sudeep Purkayastha said.
Ambani is worth $19.5 billion from his investment in Reliance Industries, a petrochemicals giant, according to Forbes business magazine.
Ambani owns the Mumbai Indians team in the Indian Premier League.
Sahara’a look to be more interested in Liverpool. Still no one from Saharahave neither confirm nor deny the bid.
“We are presently not in a position to comment,” Sahara spokesman Abhijit Sarkar said.
