Kerala Governor MOF Farook dies of cancer
Three time chief minister of the Union Territory Pondicherry, MOH Farook on January 26, 2012 passed away in Chennai. The Kerala Governor was battling with cancer and as admitted to the Apollo Hospital in the Tamil Nadu capital.
Farook for the past four years was undergoing treatment for cancer. JM Haroon, a legislator from Theni in the state of Tamil Nadu expressed his grief by saying that it was a big loss to the Muslim community and also to the people of Pondicherry.
Haroon added that he was a nationalist man and was a hardcore Congress leader and always worked for the upliftment of the poor people. The Theni legislator also said that due to his deeds he is even today remembered by the people of Pondicherry.
Farook in his political career held many important posts. At the age of 27, the former chief minister of Pondicherry became the Speaker of Puducherry Assembly. In the year 2004, Farook was then appointed as the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia.
