The Sri Rama Sene (SRS) has given a Karnataka Bandh call on Saturday, 13th Feb 2010.

A group of people on Thursday blackened the face of Shri Rama sene chief, Pramod Mutalik, claiming to be members of Karnataka Youth Congress, when Mutalik was  participating in a programme near Town Hall in city centre, protesting their plan to disrupt Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Police  took at least 100 Rama Sene workers into preventive custody.  By this Shri Rama sene also gave a call for a Karnataka Bandh tomorrow to challenge against the attack on its chief Mutalik.

To control the situation, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa officiated a high level home department meeting and ordered police to take serious action against the agitators.

“Police have been given clear directions to maintain vigil in all the sensitive spots in the city and in the districts, “the chief minister said, Warning against both Congress and Shri Rama Sene activists not to take law into their hands.

“We will maintain tight vigilance. Nobody will be allowed to cross the limits,’’ Home Minister Dr V S Acharya said.

The situation remained tense on Friday in Bangalore as Sene workers allegedly indulged in violent activities and city remained relatively calm despite the Sene’s threats, but security was tightened at malls and hotels.
