Indian Amateur Boxing Federation Suspended

Just two days after the sudden suspension of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) by International Olympic Committee (IOC), the shocking news of suspension of Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) by International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) has appeared.

The AIBA has handed over a temporary suspension letter to the IABF on Thursday December 6, 2012 on grounds of possible manipulation of the recent IABF’s elections.  Abhay Singh Chautala, who has led the IABF as the President for three times was newly elected as the President of IOA.

Chautala was elevated to the designation of first chairman of the IABF so that he can fight the election for IOA as President. On the other hand, Chautala’s brother in law Abhishek Matoria was elected as the President of IABF.

In a statement AIBA stated that they will now put an inquiry for the election and especially a probable political link between IOA president, as former Chairman of the IABF, and the IABF election.
