The greatest entertainment extravaganza to showcase folk arts of urban Chennai is coming to us as “CHENNAI SANGAMAM 2010” from Jan 10th to 16th 2010, 2000 performers with more than 4000 performances coming to entertain you in this biggest and longest event. This is combinedly organized by Govt of tamilnadu, Dept of Tourism and culture and Tamil Maiyam.
It was announced in fourth edition chennaisangamam inaugurated by the chief minister of Tamilnadu, which got adorned with folk music, folkdances and classical singing. The entire participant pocketed the great applauses from none other than their chief minister. The chief minister appreciated the organizers for their work to bringing such an event to the world to witness the long forgotten famous folk-art.

The organizers also said this event is meant to unite displaced Tamils with their roots intact. Also said that this event also will be extended to various other parts of the state too.
The biggest performance of the event would be “PIRAPOKKUM” which means birth is same for all and in other words end the war and build religious harmony society. This performance will take place on the dais besides replica of great thanzavur temple with soothing narration from THERUKKUTHU artists. This will be choreographed by famous Prasannaswamy with more telling effect.
This event will take place in more than 14 various places in Chennai. The places details can be seen in www.chennaisangamam.com. This event also foodfestival, documentary film festival, Les Giraffes, and rural games as other attractions.
