Bomb blast in Pune German bakery, nine killed, 45 injured
Nine people were killed and 45 injured when a powerful bomb blasted at the German bakery at Koregaon Park in Pune at 7 pm on Saturday.
This is the first major terror attack after 26/11 in India.
The incident took place in German Bakery which is always busy with tourists, in Koregaon park. The German Bakery is near the Osho Ashram.
The German Bakery which is a favorite joint for foreign tourists is near from Osho Ashram. A Jewish Chabad house is just 500 metres away from the bakery.
The Times of India quoted Maharastra CM Ashok Chavan as saying “All the cylinders in the bakery are intact. Therefore, the blast could be due to something else.”
The nationalities of the dead are not known. The state officials stated that four foreigners are injured. Initiaily the blast was suspected to be due to the gas cylinder inside the restaurant.
Suspected LET operative David Headley had visited Pune twice in 2009. The US citizen had reportedly stayed at Surya Villa in Koregaon Park on both occasions and visited Osho Ashram.
