It rarely happens that the assembly elections generate such excitement as these polls have. The Samajwadi party of Mulayam Singh this time is expected to make a come back.

The party on Monday grabbed as many as 250 seats which was well above the number that was expected. But still it cannot be said that the party can be assumed as office but it can receive help from the smaller outfits, independents and even Congress.

With all the possibilities Congress has decided to keep all its options open on allies and has also instructed its ministers not to rule out any party as potential ally. The decision on the flexibility after the polls, was reached in a meeting held on March 5, 2012.
