Asheem Chakravarty of Indian Ocean’s dies

Asheem Chakravarty, 52, of the famous music band Indian Ocean passed away in Delhi on 25th Dec 2009. He was 52.

Asheem, had suffered a heart attack in Oct 2009 year had been in coma for a brief period, but was said to be recovering.

“He was out of coma and in a semi-conscious state. He had a heart attack and breathed his last at around 2 in the afternoon today. The death happened at his home here. His friends and family were around him,” said Amit Kilam, the drummer of the band.

Indian Ocean fans call him as “the man with the golden voice”. The speciality of Asheem is that he sings and plays the tabla simultaneously, a difficult and rare feat.

“Asheem Chakravarty (1957-2009)-We deeply regret to inform you that our band mate Asheem Chakravarty passed away on 25th December in Delhi,” Indian Ocean posted a tweet on their official Twitter page.
