Amar Singh and Jayaprada have been expelled from the Samajwadi Party.

National general secretary and spokesman of the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, Mohan Singh has said that former Secretary of SP Amar Singh and Jaya Prada were expelled from the party on Tuesday.

The reason was the duo was indulging in anti-party activities and denting  the parties socialist image.

The decision of expulson was taken at party board meeting chaired by chief  Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Mohan Singh also said the party has suspended  four MLAs , Madan Chauhan, Sandeep Agarwal, Ashok Chandel and Sarvesh Singh ,  all are Amar Singh loyalists.

About Jayaprada the spokesman said “She also gave statements in support of Kalyan Singh, which the party thought had dented its secular image. Any leader, howsoever important, he or she cannot be allowed to make public statements against any political party,”

“For over a month some leaders of the party have been continuously giving statements against the SP,” Mr. Singh said.

When asked about why Jaya Bachchan was not suspended, the SP secretary said ” that so far she had not done anything which amounted to anti-party activity”.
