Dalai Lama Still At Odds With Beijing
Beijing accuses the Dalai Lama of being a separatist trouble maker. Whenever the Dalai Lama goes anywhere, a protest from Beijing usually follows.
Inner Mongolia is a land-locked country sandwiched between Eastern Russia and Northern China.
The last time the Dalai Lama went to Mongolia in 2002, Beijing cut off rail links for two days in retaliation.
Well, the Dalai Lama is back in Mongolia visiting Buddhist sites and trying to strengthen traditional ties between Tibet and Mongolia.
His itineray is being kept secret and low-key so as not to anger Beijing any more than necessary.
In any event, Tibet, Mongolia, Taiwan each have to be very careful when they use the "I" word = Independence.
I once read a quote by a Chinese leader (I wish I could remember the name) – "We (China) can lose people but we will never give up our land."
It seems that to some, land has a higer value than humanity in China.
Rightly or wrongly and regardless whether Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford know where Tibet is at or not, those countries ought to think loud and long before declaring independence.
What do you think?
