Cooking Robot – Made In China

Scientists in Shenzhen have invented a robot that can cook.

The inventors, Fanxing Science and Technology CO. Ltd, say the robot can cook Sichuan, Shandong and Canton dishes…thousands of them.

The cost of the robot was four years work and about $250,000.

Standardized human cooking actions were translated into machine language so that the robot is capable of frying, baking, boiling and steaming. But can it chop, dice, fold, and shake?

The robot demonstrated its expertise at a show when it prepared shrimp in less than 5 minutes.

The robot is expected to go on sale in 2007 in restaurants – to standardize Chinese fast food – and in homes.

Uh, can the robot teach humans how to cook, too? I know someone who could use lessons.
