Communist Party of China Members Work in Private Sector

Some Communist Party of China (CPC) members are working in the private sector…some 2.86 million of them or about 4% of the total CPC membership.

More than 800,000 of the communists were self-employed says the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.

There were some 178,000 firms that had a CPC organization within the private firms and those organizations each had at least three members.

This is still small potatoes considering the CPC has 70 million members nationwide.

Since 2002 CPC has been encouraging its members to get involved in the private sector and to help organize party organs and recruit members. 

With 70 million members…there's only

1.230 billion to go.

How is it that, relatively speaking, so little of the population has such a wide control over the political climate of China?
