China’s Super Girl – Shang Wenjie

Posted by Bill Belew on November 6th, 2010 in China | 19 Comments

Shang Wenjie’s selection as China’s "Super Girl" was reported on SINA.

Shang had no previous voice training but majored in French at Fudan University. She won China’s version of "American Idol" by singing several Chinese pop songs and one French song.

Shang beat out two other university students and one professional singer.

In her first try in the contest, she failed in the first round. After persuading her boss to give her an extended vacation (she should get a prize for that) she practiced hard and made it to the top 20.

Still not wanting to give up, she went to Guangzhou to try again …and win.

According to Chinese chat rooms, she did not win on her good looks, but rather on her determination, persistence and modesty…and she can sing, too.

China has a new Super Girl.

 What do you think?

Laure Shang has this voice that makes her seem like she has a cold. In china, it’s called bi qiang. I love that kind of voice. If you think tan weiwei is a good singer, well, isn’t that obvious??? she is a proffesional singer having gone through 4 years of proffesional training. Of course Laure can’t beat her in singing skills. But Laure has not been through any training before… I am a zhi ma… (the name of her fans) and I will support her. And listen to her song a la claire fontaine!!!

I think her singing is beautiful. :3 It reminds me of Vivi’a voice, in a way. Honesty, I don’t like the other girl’s voice, what’s her name? >.

Anyways, I love her singing. It’s very beautiful. To say the truth, she’s not all that pretty, she’s pretty normal if you don’t look at her fashion styles and hair. :3 ANYWAYS, I’m her fan from the beggining, Oh, and I LOVED Han zhenzhen. :3

Excuse me, Bonnie? Never trust gossips, especially those which were finally figered out from some losers. All the slanders you talked about Laure’s father was from one of their neighbors-”Qili(I might got the name wrong)”, who tried to take advantage of Laure to make money but failed! It’s totally OK whether you like her or not, but just remember to respect, and leave lies away.

Whenever you like her or not, the FACT is she is adored by thousands of ppl, she won the contest, what’s more, she was the “most popular” in all the four concerts in Shanghai,Shenzhen,Nanjing and some other city I forgot. Her fans bought more than 50% tickets of the shows, especially in Guangzhou, 70% of the audience came for her!

Excuse me, but shang wen jie shouldnt have won. Her singing was completely disgraceful compared to the other competiters, as I have seen this since 2005, and she is would be the last in singing, in 2006. Another thing, this is not a Chinese version of “American idol”. Super girls did not copy american idol, for the competition rules, etc. are different, and anyway, Super girls is 10 times better than American Idol.

I think it is a bit rude to say that Shang wen jie “Beat Out” Tan wei wei , Liu li yang, and ai meng meng, because she cheated. After a few weeks after she became famous, people in china started to doubt how come she got so many votes, and they researched, and found out that her father borrowed money to buy Sim cards and vote for her, and convinced many people to vote for her “Precious” Daughter. Also, at the start of the final, it was completely unfair to Liu li yang, for she sang better than wen jie, and at the end, Tan wei wei’s voice alone can beat wen jie.

Hearing chinese Supergirl, who doesn’t get impressed by their talented, wonderful voice, hard working and nice performance. What I can say is that Shang Wenjie sang the French song ” Ka Men ‘wonderfully but why not letting 1st runner up, Tan Weiwei sang a wonderful folk song ?

If Tan was given an opportunity like that, I think she could also beat down shang.

By the way, shang’s supporter were impressed by her undespair hard working, different style of other Supergirl & her possesing french language.

Singing French songs make all people in china gave her so many votes ?

Actually in final grand contest, it’s given a privilege for Match Selector to select a qualified singer out as a winner. She should be a prof. singer, having great talented, great voice, hard working, attractive, nice performance, humble and having generous heart.

Wow! Even if there are a lot of differences between France and China, I did’nt know that we can find an “American Idol” here.

Next month, an other show is coming, I’ve heard about some foreigners singing chinese song. I think it’s a must see!
