Russian Girls in High-Heel Sprint in St. Petersburg

A sign of the apocalyspe? Or do some people just have too much money and time these days and not know how to spend it?

The Chinese are having International Fingernail Painting Competitions.

Gee, what can we do in Russia? Leningrad, er, St. Petersburg?

"Gather around comrades and let's see if we can come up with an idea to get people to come out to our store."

"How about a billboard?"

"Nah, done that."

"Radio?"

"Do people still listen to radio?"

"TV spots?"

"Boring…."

"I got it. Why not get some pretty girls to put on high heels, at least 9 cm long (3.5") and have them sprint for a shopping voucher of 50,000 rubles ($2,000)? Surely the winner will spend more and the losers will go shopping to ease the pain of defeat."

"High-heel sprint? Down the streets of St. Petersburg? Great idea!"

And so they did…run, and fall, and shop….

Now, if we can get them to do it with those nifty fingernails and in bikinis…we might really be on to something.

Wonder if some real sprinters participated? Russia certainly has some of those.
