Asia in Space

Other countries in Asia besides Japan and China are making forays to space.

In fact, South Korea has sent an astronaut to space and she's already back.

Yi So-yeon traveled aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft.

Yi is a a 29-year-old biosystems engineer. Her return was a ballistic descent path, only the third in ISS history. She was at the ISS for about one week.

Meanwhile, Vietnam, after 13 long years successfully launched its first satellite into space.

The rocket carried a 2.6 ton medium-sized satellite, Vinasat-1.

Lockheed Martin of the United States partnered with Vietnam for the launch.

The price tag, $300 million.

Don't tell Google or Microsoft. They are likely to want to put their own satellites in space for pocket change like that.

Vietnam will save $15 million a year in satellite rent money that the country has been paying to Russia, Australia and Thailand.
