‘Chessboard Killer’, Alexander Pichuskin, Guilty of 48 Murders
A Russian supermarket worker had been dubbed – the chessboard killer – because he had hoped to put a coin on every space of a 64-place chessboard…one for each victim.
He was found guilty of 48 murders, three attempted murders and admitted to killing 11 more people.
He is considered one of Russia's most prolific serial killers.
He lured most of his victims to secluded parts of Bitsevsky Park in Moscow, got them drunk, then smacked their skulls with a hammer or threw them down a drain.
Most of his victims were elderly, or those with drug and alcohol addiction…thus throwing police off who would not know for months that someone had been killed because no relatives came forward.
Companionship to 'drink to the memory of his dead dog' was his signature line.
The killer through his victims down drains even they were alived and begged him to spare them.
Some had vodka bottles stuck in their shattered skulls for assurance they were really dead.
