Microsoft Never Sleeps

Submitted by Bill Belew on Sunday, 28 May 2006No Comment

Microsoft never sleeps, I reckon.

Question: Where is Microsoft NOT involved in a law suit.

Regulators in South Korea have rejected MS’ appeal of an antitrust ruling and now MS must fight back.

"No way!" says MS with regard to giving up its legal challenge in the South Korean courts.

Microsoft has been fined $34 million and the Korean Fair Trade Commission turned down Microsoft’s appeal of this decision.

"Microsoft firmly believes it has complied with Korean competition laws, and has conducted business for the benefit of consumers in Korea," is the official MS position.

An older friend of mine once told me when I was running my company in Japan…"People like to throw rocks at trains in the train yard."

People love to throw rocks at Microsoft. And they are being thrown from all directions.

G’night, Bill. I hope you sleep well at nights.

How about you?

What do you think of Microsoft?

Microsoft’s products are so ubiquitous that you just can’t function in the business world without them. How did Microsoft come by this dominance? By consistently offering superior products? Not entirely. According to some, including a U.S. federal appeals court (see http://www.tinyurl.com/ms23v, for the opinion), Microsoft dominates us all because it has been, well, a bully. What is more satisfying than “throwing rocks” at a bully?

    Denise,
Thank you for visiting my site and taking the time to leave a comment.

Microsoft’s growth and dominance might be the result of good business….not necessarily fair…but good. Isn’t every business’ dream to ‘corner the market’. MS did that, no?

Do bullies start off being bullies or do they learn how to do it when they grow real big?

No matter who you are, big or small…rocks hurt.

    Thanks again!
