Korea Wants to Sell Air Defense to Saudi Arabia
Kore wants to sell its air defense system to Saudi Arabia.
The Saudis want to modernize their military including air defense.
South Korea is happy to oblige.
If South Korea doesn't get the business, China is eager to sell their system.
The system consists of:
1. a surveillance radar,
2. a tracking radar with electro optics (EOTS),
3. a missile launcher on a modified K-200 armored personnel carrier.
It can engage in up to 12 targets within 20 kilometers simultaneously.
Missles travel at Mach 2.6
Guidance and fire control systems have:
1. Identification Friend-or Foe,
2. FLIR thermal imaging infrared camera system,
3. infrared localizer and command to line-of-sight missile guidance system.
The cost – $16.3 million per unit and $300K per missile.
Hmmm….I wonder if I could get one for Christmas.
