Chinese Carmakers Chase Toyota

Chinese carmakers are chasing Toyota.

There's no tax on big talk is the Chinese saying.

BYD Auto, Geely are both boasting they will be on top in the years to come…25-30 years or so from now…selling 13 million cars worldwide, whatever…

Problem is, BYD sold just 60,000 cars last year.

Geely sold only 200,000.

What strikes me is interesting is that Toyota is the standard. Not GM, FORD or Chrysler.chery.auto.toyota.jpg

Chery, the first Chinese carmaker to hit 1,000,000 cars in production is researching the Toyota way from

1. product portfolio,

2. manufacturing,

3. quality control

4. cost-cutting

5. marketing,

6. sales and

7. overseas expansion.

"We will become a Chinese Toyota," Chery declares.

Geely says: "In the long term, we will have plants in all regions of the world where Toyota has."

Toyota is the new standard…much like Toyota looked up to GM some 30 years ago.

How do you like that America?
