Solar Eclipse 2010 in India, January 15th

On Friday, 2010 January 15th, world witnessing another longest solar eclipse.

This eclipse is called as the annular eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 0.9190.

The eclipse will take place at approx 13.20 hrs Indian Time,  The eclipse is viewable for full 10.4 min in India

The eclipse of the sun could be seen from within a 300km wide track that traverses half of Earth. This shadowing of moon begins in Africa and crosses through Chad, Central African Republic, Democratic Republican Congo, Uganda, Kenya and Somalia. After departing Africa, the path courses through Indian ocean here the maximum duration of annularity reaches 11 minis 08 secs.

The best location to view this eclipse in India is in between Kodandaramar Temple islet and Dhanushkodi,

This will be the first solar eclipse of the year 2010.

This ECLIPSE is called ANNULAR which means enthusiasts still could see SUN outside. Its vouched as second- best eclipse of its kind out of so far experienced solar eclipses. As the duration is also said to be the longest and which won’t be exceeded for 1000 years.

The sky enthusiast seriously looking forward to see it as the last solar eclipse on July 22nd 2009 was dampened due to cloudy weather.

    Its a historical event for me to see such solar eclipse which scientists expect to be viewed after more than a hundred years to come.Shall live it in my records for may be my grand children to read and compare.

    I STARTED SEEING THE ECLIPSE AT 07:09AM HERE IN KAMPALA- UGANDA.IT STARTED SMALL AND AT 9:20AM IT WAS STILL VISSIBLE AND NOW IN A NEW MOON SHAPE.WAS HAPPY SEEING SUCH EVENT THAT SCIENTIST EXPECT BACK AFTER VERY MANY YEARS.
