India Australia 3rd Test – Delhi

Submitted by Parasshuram Shalgar on Wednesday, 29 October 2008No Comment

Anil Kumble has won the toss and India will bat first in the third Test in Delhi as they aim to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Kumble, returning from a shoulder problem, will form a two-man legspin attack with Amit Mishra after Harbhajan Singh was ruled out due to a toe injury.

Harbhajan’s absence means there will be no specialist finger-spinners in the match following Australia’s decision not to hand a Test debut to the offspinner Jason Krejza. Australia’s only change from the side that lost in Mohali was the anticipated return of Stuart Clark from his elbow problem to replace Peter Siddle.

India —– 1 Gautam Gambhir, 2 Virender Sehwag, 3 Rahul Dravid, 4 Sachin Tendulkar, 5 Sourav Ganguly, 6 VVS Laxman, 7 Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), 8 Anil Kumble (capt), 9 Amit Mishra, 10 Zaheer Khan, 11 Ishant Sharma.

Australia —-1 Matthew Hayden, 2 Simon Katich, 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Hussey, 5 Michael Clarke, 6 Shane Watson, 7 Brad Haddin (wk), 8 Cameron White, 9 Brett Lee, 10 Mitchell Johnson, 11 Stuart Clark.
