Yahoo! Cleared in Chinese Reporter Case
A Chinese reporter was sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of leaking state secrets.
Prosecutors received info from the reporters email account from Yahoo! resulting in journalism activists criticizing Yahoo!
The courts ruled that "Yahoo Inc. did not violate Hong Kong's privacy laws when it provided prosecutors with information."![]()
"There was not enough evidence to support the view that Yahoo Hong Kong violated privacy laws."
China is not the U.S. is not China. The rules are not the same in both countries.
Americans cannot expect China to play by American rules or vice versa.
Do you think Yahoo! was wrong for turning over the info on the journalist to the prosecutors?
