World’s Largest 4G Field Testing Environment Established
A new 4G network, 2000 meters (1.25 miles) long was use to field test a road environment where cars drive at 50 kph and transfer data at 20-90 megabytes per second.
More than 10 universities, enterprises and research organizations have taken part in the FuTURE (Future Technology for Universal Radio Environment) Project in Shanghai.
Shanghai Chonming County will use 4G technology to build a wireless, wide-band network.
The next step is to put the technology into pre-commercial use, hoping to make the technology available commercially within five years.
Though China lags behind in short distance transmitting technology, China's 4G research is at the forefront.
It kind of makes sense to me. Let everyone else to the work on 3G and China will be ready when the time comes. hmm…
