Wild Mice Outnumber Chinese Population
Somebody had to be awfully busy and working his abacus furiously to be counting the number of field mice that were chased into the nearby crops when the Yangtze River flooded and nearby mouse holes on lake islands were filled.
2 billion, count 'em mice ravaged crops in 22 counties around the area.
Residents are fighting back, having killed some 2.3 million of the little critters or some 90 tons.
90 tons of mice?!
Shovels and clubs were used to beat the crap out of the mice…make that beat them to death…and fishing nets used to scoop them up.
Still, more mice are expected as floods in the region worsen.
So, how do they come up with a number like 2 billion mice?
That's almost 2 for each Chinese person!
Do they measure them by weight, by the amount of land they cover?
What they need is to let loose a whole lot of hungry cats and snakes.
