Who Gets US Visas – China, India, South Korea, Taiwan and Philippines are in the Top 10

Submitted by Bill Belew on Thursday, 10 August 2006No Comment

I have written here about America’s lack of talent… the kind that comes from overseas. One of the big reasons for that lack of talent is that foreigners in some countries cannot get visas.

There are a lot of reasons for that. I will address those in other blogs. In this blog I want to share which country’s folks get the most visas issued to them.

I was surprised to know this. Maybe you will be as well.

These visas are non-immigrant visas – including tourism, study and business.

Here are the top 10.

10. Poland – 120,201

 9. Russia – 121,627

 8. Philippines – 141,677

 7. Colombia – 179,220

 6. Taiwan – 196,903

 5. Brazil – 200,236

 4. China – 324,625

 3. India – 377,384

 2. South Korea – 386,446

 1. Mexico – 901,038

I wouldn’t have thought that Mexico had the most or that South Korea sent more people to the US than did India or China.

How about you?

I am assure that every country has its own talent people. But I though India would be on top of the list to recieve an entery visa, but it surprised me to see Mexico is number one in the list. I thought the talented one stays in Mexico and the laborer are the one who try to leave because of the lack of the job!

The passport-waived (i.e. Canadian) and visa-waived (those holding British, French, German, Japaness,… passports) visitors constitute more than half of the non-US-resident/citizen population inspected at ports of entry every year. Those who require a non-immigrant visa to enter are in minority. Kind of misleading for making this list, don’t you think, eh? It is as misleading as making a list of best NBA players, but excluding the Black guys.

Well, this list seems to be true as far as the Philippine’s case is concern because I for one would like to have one in order to study in the US. One of the reasons why these countries opt to study in the US is the opportunities that it presents to these people.
