Urban, Rural Income Gap Widens

China's farmers are getting rich fairly fast…
1. higher prices for farm products
2. development of township enterprises
3. measures to boost agriculture by Beijing
4. living allowances for low-income people
In the first half of this year, income was up 13%!
But…urbanites are getting richer quicker.
In 2004 the average income of an urban resident was 3.21 times that of a farmer.
In 2005 – 3.22 times.
In 2006 – 3.28 times.
The average urban resident has 11,759 yuan in disposable income compared to 3,587 for the peasant, farmer…little people in the fields.
China cares about the farmer….but they need to care harder and faster.
