Underwear Color Determines Fate in The Year of the Cow

The Brazilians have a plan to welcome in the year of the cow.

Yellow underwear.

Seriously. .

In Brazil, the color of underwear worn at midnight on New Year’s Eve is believed to determine one’s luck for the year. As for me, I am a very lucky person. Except that all my luck is bad. Wrong color underwear I suppose.

Red underwear is supposed to bring passion for the new year.

Pink underwear will bring love.

White underwear will bring peace.

Green underwear will bring luck.

Yellow underwear means money.

With so many people worried about the global economic fallout, yellow underwear being taken off everywhere…of the shelves.

Brazil’s largest underwear maker (by number, not by size. Well maybe size, too.) has sold 100,000 pairs of yellow underwear and has no time to make more.

Brazil tradition -  women must wash the underwear in the New Year and then wear them inside out on the first Friday of the year for the effect to work.
