The Cost of Economic Success – 70% of White Collar Workers Overworked, Stressed
The Beijing Normal University conducted a survey among workers in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
The result…a not surprising 70% of white collar workers are:
1. overworked
2. stressed
3. afraid of losing their jobs
4. worried about surviving in the fierce job market.
Despite the weeklong holiday that China just had…some workers had as little as one day off…especially those who work at foreign-funded companies.
Taxi drivers are happy…they know workers will come out late if they (the taxi drivers) hand around late enough.
So, what price must be paid by the every day worker in China for the country to maintain its current momentum?
How many people are waiting in the wings if a worker tires or burns out?
I imagine it must be tough for your manager to have a stack of 100, 200 or more workers' resumes waiting for you to just keel over.
I reckon I'd get stressed out, too.
How much time do you get off from your job each week?
