Stephen Hawking to Attend Int’l Congress of Chinese Mathematicians

Submitted by Bill Belew on Sunday, 1 April 2007No Comment

I have to make a hard decision now…get tickets the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games or tickets for the 4th International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians (ICCM), to be held in Hangzhou this winter.

Michael Phelps and world records or Stephen Hawking talking calculators. Which should I attend? Golly.

A long time friend of Hawking says, "Mr Hawking will visit Hangzhou if he is in good shape. If he comes, we will try to give the master an opportunity to get closer to ordinary people." Ordinary people…that would be me.

5 years earlier, Hawking was offered the title of "Honorary Citizen of Hangzhou."

I am not smart enough to know what Hawking is talking about most, well maybe all the time, but I do know that if he thinks he can explain the world without a Creator…he can't be too smart in that area.

What I am totally impressed by is, he has had Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, (ALS) Lou Gehrig's disease for almost 40 years. Remarkable.

My father-in-law contracted ALS and was gone in a couple of years.

And now the man is making overseas appearances to confuse his listeners.

He has a zero-gravity flight planned for 2007 and a sub-orbital all expenses paid space flight in 2009, courtesy billionaire Richard Branson footing the $200K bill.

Now, if Hawkings could just figure out the Creator thing.

Well, it looks like you just lost this reader, unless your creator comment was an April Fool’s joke.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t talk about religion on your blog. You can say whatever you want on your blog. But, if you want to annoy your atheist readers, and have them contemplate unsubscribing, then by all means continue.
