Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung was selected to appear in photographic portfolio being compiled by the New York Times of the "Great Performers" in 2006.
Just twenty two actors and actresses were chosen for the portfolio, putting the Chinese beauty in some elite company - Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Paul Dano and Japan's Rinko Kikuchi.
Chinese will be dancing in the streets, (oh, as I write this they are already doing that as the Chinese New Year is just two hours old) over the selection of one of their best.
