Rory Gilmore Takes Yale Buddies To China

I was a Gilmore Girls fan until last night. I know it's ridiculous but, the last episode of season six cured me.

That's not so important. What might be important, however, is that about 100 Yale students and faculty at the invitation of China's President Hu Jintao will visit China, many for the first time.

Yale has cooperative partnerships with 45 universities, governmental and nongovernmental institutions in China already.

Yale's President and his wife, the director of Yale Directed Studies will lead the delegation.

China's President Hu says, "Yale is a forerunner in conducting China-U.S. educational exchanges and provides an important platform for cultural exchanges between our two countries."

China is doing its part…the 600 Chinese students and scholars at Yale now for the biggest group of any foreign country at the school.

And none of them have made an appearance on Gilmore Girls yet.

If the writers for the series added a Chinese character, chances are viewership would grow….no? And hopefully the storylines would improve, too.

Do you think adding a Chinese character to a popular tv series would increase the number of viewers just because Chinese and Chinese Americans would like to see one of their own?
