Nuclear Power Capacity to Increase in China
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) says China's State Council has officially approved a plan to expand nuclear power generation capacity to 23 million kilowatts by 2020.
That increase will give China a total of 40 million kilowatts of power or 4% of the total in the country.
The cost for an expansion of 23 million kilowatts – $60 billion…much more if something goes wrong.
The sites for future plants:
Guangdong,
Zhejiang,
Shandong,
Jiangsu,
Liaoning and
Fujian provinces
China presently has 11 nuclear reactors in operation and another eight under construction.
