North Korea Closes the Door on Chinese Tourists
China is North Korea’s best, maybe only friend. Chinese might be the only ones who would visit there as well.
Still, North Korea closed the door on tour groups from China. The reason – to fix its roads and railways.
That being the case, it may be NEVER before the doors open again.
Only business and trade groups as well as ethnic Koreans living in China are allowed to come in now.
One travel agency echoed the need to repair the roads as the reason.
But, another agency, China International Travel Service, said that North Korea had reached its quota for the year.
Sorry..no more visitors allowed here.
According to this official, North Korea does this every two or three years.
It reminds me of when I was in the Soviet Union way back when. We went to a cafeteria several times a week only to find a sign:
NO FOOD TODAY.
Sometimes, they just ran out. Perhaps North Korea just ran out of hospitality for the year.
