New Year’s Eve Parties Cost a Month’s Salary in China

Submitted by Bill Belew on Wednesday, 20 December 2006No Comment

Chinese luxury hotels know how much their customers like to party. And, they are prepared to offer them a place, a celebrity face and a price to go with it.

The Grand Hotel Beijing has a Christmas Eve party that will cost from 1,588 – 3,288 ($200-410)/head. Wowza. I wouldn't pay that even if I could afford it.

The Zhaolong Hotel has a show for $225/head.

China World Hotel will let customers celebrate in style at $160-$250/fool.

Landmark Hotel has $500/knothead dinner party for VIP customers. All 100 tickets for the party have been sold out and 500 more tickets for three comedy shows in the same hotel are being scarfed up.

These prices can be several month's salary for farmers and teachers in China.

The problem with having too much money, is people run out of ways to spend it. The hotel industry for one is happy to help the rich fools out.

What do you think?
