Nearly 10,000 Magazines – 2.85 Billion Copies Printed
The total number of magazines/periodicals in China has reached 9,468.
The number of copies made – 2.85 billion x who knows how many pages. Whoa!
The cost for this enterprise – 14 billion yuan ($1.8 billion).
And we thought that everybody in China was online. Hardly.
120 million may be online…but that leaves another billion to read the rags.
Additionally, annual advertisement income of China's magazines has reached 3 billion yuan and has been growing in double digit percentages for many years.
Maggie Q, Gong Li, Zhang Ziyi and the rest still grace the pages.![]()
Beijing will host the 36th World Magazine Congress next week, May 13-15, founded by the International Federation of the Periodical Press, in 1925 and held every other year.
No death to the printed word in China…yet.
