My hero - a 10-year old garbage collector, Sun Derong
A little 10-year old girl, Sun Derong, is my hero.
Her father abandoned her when her mother died giving birth to her…so, she went to live with her grandparents.
When she was 5-years old, she started collecting garbage to make ends meet and care for her grandmother who has gone blind, and her grand father who has gone deaf.
She's been doing it now for five years….AFTER school.
She ranks first in her class and has NEVER told about her difficulties to her teachers or f
riends.
She just goes about her chores with a strong will and determination. In addition to bringing home something to eat, she also does all the housework in the dilapidated house that they live in.
By accident, school officials have become aware of her conditions and decided to waive her tuition costs. Teachers have stepped up to help her out.
Little Sun says that she has to study hard to return the help she is receiving from kind-hearted people.
Indeed…it is better to give than receive.
It is better to have a strong will and act upon it like little 10-year old Sun, than to cry about the unfairness of it all.
